About your Host

I'm Doug! I grew up in a small farming community in southern Illinois and served 12 years in the United States Army. My final tour brought me to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, in the heart of the Mark Twain National Forest. After leaving the military, I decided to make this area my home, where I now live surrounded by the forest.

Over the years, my wife and I have operated several service industry businesses and owned a farm with sheep, goats, and horses. I've also served as Fire Chief of the Waynesville Rural Fire Protection District for 23 years.

I'm proud to call the Missouri Ozarks home and look forward to sharing the natural beauty of this area with our guests.

How close is Cloud Nine Camping to Mount Rushmore? ▸

All tents include air conditioning for summer. There is no internal heating system, so we recommend warm layers for chilly nights and enjoy your private fire pit outside.

From late October through April, deep freezes make running water unavailable. A port-a-potty is provided. This is a true primitive winter escape!

Yes! Cloud Nine is pet-friendly. There is a $40 pet fee. Dogs must be leashed and not left unattended. Enjoy 33 acres with your pup!

Is the water safe to drink at the property? ▸

Yes. Our water comes from a natural well, is filtered, and safe to drink. Slight discoloration may occur due to local mineral content.

What cooking facilities are available at the site? ▸

Each tent has a private fire pit with a grate. Mini-fridge, kitchenette space, and coffee maker are included. For propane or charcoal grilling, local dining in Keystone is recommended.

Where is the nearest grocery store or restaurant? ▸
