Frequently Asked Questions

How do I access the bathhouse and facilities?

Guests receive a digital Glamping Guide 24 hours before check-in via email and SMS. This guide contains the current 4-digit keypad codes for the bathhouse and property gates. If you experience issues, our on-site host Ariel is available at +1 850-639-1008.

Is there cell service or Wi-Fi?

Dead Lakes is a "digital detox" destination. While cell service is limited, we provide high-speed Wi-Fi at the central bathhouse area. Please download your check-in instructions before arriving at Wewahitchka, FL.

Is it cheaper to book on Airbnb or your website?

You will always find the lowest price on our official website. By booking direct, guests save 12–15% on service fees typically charged by Airbnb, Vrbo, and Booking.com.

Are there alligators?

Dead Lakes is a natural Florida ecosystem. While alligators live in the basin, they generally avoid the elevated glamping areas. We advise guests to keep pets on a leash and stay away from the water's edge after dusk.

Is firewood provided?

Please refer to your Glamping Guide for current firewood availability. In most cases, firewood is available for purchase on-site.

Can I fly a drone?

Drone use is generally restricted to protect guest privacy and wildlife. Please contact us in advance for approval.

What water activities are available?

Guests have direct access to the cypress-filled waters for kayaking, paddle boating, and boating. The calm basin is also great for swimming and exploring the submerged forest.

Is this a good spot for fishing and bird watching?

Absolutely. We are a hidden gem for wildlife viewing, with ospreys and eagles frequently spotted. Fishing opportunities include fly fishing in the shallows and bay fishing nearby. We recommend bringing your own gear or checking our guide for rentals.

Are there hiking or cycling trails nearby?

Yes, the surrounding area features several trails ideal for hiking and cycling through the Florida panhandle. Many guests also enjoy antiquing in nearby Wewahitchka.
